For
our 1st anniversary ride in September 2011 we decided to embark on our
most ambitious ride to date. A 72km cycle along the Via Verde de la Sierra
from Puerto Serrano to Olvera. The route follows the old disused railway
track which was built in the 1930's but never actually completed. It goes
through spectacular scenery rising some 400 metres from Puerto Serrano
to Olvera. there are 30 tunnels, 4 viaducts and 5 old railway stations
along the route. After lunch at Olvera we made our way back to the start
relieved to know that it was mostly down hill all the way back. |
