Alcalá de los Gazules A Challenging ride with over 2000ft of climbing. Starting from Venta Duchesa and up the hill to turn right at the roundabout for the link road to the main N381 Motorway. At the motorway Junction we took the service road that runs along side the N381 before taking a track on the left to take us to the CA-6200 road. Turning right then along the road we passed a signpost to a Venta down country lane on the left and decided to check it out and have our coffe stop there. Suitably refreshed we headed back to the main road and up the long hill to Alcalá de los Gazules. Leaving the town by the A-2304 which took us back to the Motorway service road and back the way we came to where we had parked at the start. We then drove to Venta Los Naveros for our final Drinks and Snack stop. A tiring but enjoyable ride! | 51km Ascent 611m | GPX file KML file Map of Route |
Benelup An away day starting from Venta Rayo near the bottom of Vejer, Taking the back road to meet the main road to Benelup and along the road for coffee at a venta that we've visited before and always get good service at. By the time we had finished our breakfast the rain was coming down quite heavily and the decision was taken to cut the ride short and head back the way we came as fast as possible. We stopped half way to see if the rain was going to stop but there was no sign of it easing up so we headed out again and back to Venta Rayo. The barbecue in the corner was lit so we all crowded round that trying to dry out. after a couple of drinks we packed our bikes up and headed home grateful that we very rarely get wet rides. | 39km Ascent 246m | GPX file KML file Map of Route |
Cadiz A special three kings ride to Cadiz. Starting from Casa Blas as usual and through town to pick up the cycle track to San Fernando at the Aldi roundabout, continuing round San Fenrandoi to Bahis Sur shopping centre to pick up other riders. The track starts directly from the car park and all along the side of the railway track right into Cadiz centre. We stopped for coffee along the promenade near the new suspension bridge and by that time it had warmed up after a chilly start. Suitably refreshed we threaded our way through round the city and all round the penisular and along the sea front to the lovely Nahubeach Restaurant for drinks before heading back to Chiclana and home. A couple of our riders had decided to take the track to El Palmar and by the time we got to the coffee stop one of them had the first of 3 punctures caused by thorns on the track. After coffee we took the road to the roundabout at the bottom of the road to Vejer , and on to the quite hamlet of Santa Lucia where we had been told they did an excellent egg and chips. This turned out to be a bit of a disappointment as it wasn't even as good as at Blas's. Mark spent all the lunchtime mending his punctures! After lunch we made our way back via the N340 and all headed back by seperate routes home. Mark rode the last 10km with a flat tyre having run out of spare tubes! Still we all had a good time but decided we would never use that particular track near El Palmar again! | 61km Ascent 408m | GPX file KML file Map of Route |
